Water shortage: New tube-wells ordered
Shortage problems persist due to the non-functioning of the only tube well for the last several days
RAWALPINDI:
The Water and Sanitation Authority (Wasa) will soon install tube-wells in 74 union councils of Shakrial to help overcome water woes being faced by residents of the area. Federal Minister of Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, in whose constituency the area falls, had ordered the Wasa to install new tube-wells in the area by replacing the only tube well installed by the public health engineering department two years ago. The residents have been facing water shortage problems due to the non-functioning of the only tube well for the last several days. Residents of the area had taken out a protest and blocked the main expressway to pressure the government. The Wasa Managing-Director, Raja Shaukat Mahmmod said that work on the installation of new tube-wells would start in a few weeks. He added that tankers would be hired to supply water to the area until the new tube-wells were installed.
