A policeman and his mother were killed, while his wife and child were injured when a group of armed men launched an assault on his house in Tank district on Saturday.
An official of Mulazai police said the policeman, Samar Gul, was working with the Special Branch of police and was a resident of Lukki Machan Khel village which is situated at a distance from Tank city.
The assailants fled the scene after opening indiscriminate fire.
The injured woman, Mughal Jana, and her child were taken to District Headquarters Hospital Tank. Hospital officials say they are out of danger.
A case has been registered against unidentified persons in Mulazai police station, Tank within the limits of which the attack happened.
The motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained. Police has started investigation and a search operation to arrest the culprits. However, no arrests were made till filing of this report.
