Promising visit of Maldivian leader

Letter May 08, 2015
It is an appreciative achievement of the government’s policy of diversifying diplomacy

LAHORE: The recent visit of the president of the Maldives is a positive sign that can kick-start an active, productive and mutually beneficial relationship between Pakistan and the Maldives. Both countries have signed four MoUs for increased cooperation and joint ventures in the fields of education, health, sports and drug-trafficking.

Moreover, leaders of both countries expressed their resolve to strengthen coordination at the Saarc level and enhance cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, counterterrorism, climate and environmental issues. It is an appreciative achievement of the government’s policy of diversifying diplomacy to explore all opportunities in regional and international relations, which can best serve the national interest.
