According to information available with Express 24/7, the former prime minister resigned after failing to convince the PML-N and PML-Q to unite with the Muttahida Muslim League. Express 24/7 correspondent Sohail Chaudhry reported that Jamali said the PML-N and PML-Q had expressed their reservations over the Muttahida Muslim League. He said the PML-Q wasn’t interested as it also wanted the "like-minded faction" to unite with the MML.
