Former Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali resigned as chief of the Muttahida Muslim League (MML) steering committee.

According to information available with Express 24/7, the former prime minister resigned after failing to convince the PML-N and PML-Q to unite with the Muttahida Muslim League. Express 24/7 correspondent Sohail Chaudhry reported that Jamali said the PML-N and PML-Q had expressed their reservations over the Muttahida Muslim League. He said the PML-Q wasn’t interested as it also wanted the "like-minded faction" to unite with the MML.

Jamali also said he doesn’t belong to any faction of the Muslim League and that he is neutral.

The Muttahida Muslim League was formed in October to unite the factions of the Muslim League under the leadership of senior politician Pir Pagara. Jamali had been heading the steering committee.
