Bannu, Hangu, Swabi police disclose details of crackdowns in April

SWABI/ HANGU/ BANNU: Police officials of three districts have arrested almost 200 proclaimed offenders; confiscated 46 kilogrammes of hashish and fined 8,598 vehicle drivers in the month of April.

At three separate press conferences on Wednesday, Bannu, Hangu and Swabi police officials spoke of crackdowns and arrests.

Bannu ASP Muhammad Fayaz said officers at various stations across the districts arrested 150 proclaimed offenders and 23 suspects. “Most of the culprits were wanted for kidnappings, murders, attempted murders and other crimes.”

Fayaz added the police confiscated 27 AK-47s, seven Kalakovs, nine rifles, 42 guns, 176 pistols, six hand grenades and more than 6,000 cartridges during the raids and crackdowns. Bannu police also seized 10.9 kilogrammes of hashish, 3.025kg of opium, 14 grammes of heroin and 67 bottles of liquor.

Hangu DPO Anwar Saeed Kundi at a local press conference told the media they arrested 300 suspects and 40 proclaimed offenders during various drives in the district in the month of April.

Kundi shared Hangu police confiscated 16 Kalashnikovs, 17 guns, 47 pistols, four grenades, nine rifles and 1,400 cartridges. At least 35kg of hashish was also seized, he added.

“Search and strike operations will remain under way in the district,” said Kundi.

In Swabi, DPO Sajjad Khan told the media they charged 8,598 drivers for violating traffic rules. He said the traffic police in the district has been directed to take strict action against those who were violating rules.
