KARACHI:
The investigation team probing Sabeen Mehmud’s murder has identified six suspicious cell phone numbers with the help of geo-fencing, head of the team DIG District South Dr Shahid Jameel said. Investigators have also taken custody of the laptop of the slain human rights activist, he said. The director of The Second Floor Café (T2F) was shot dead and her mother injured by unidentified assailants on Sunset Boulevard in Defence housing Authority. “We do not have any solid evidence that can lead to the suspects,” DIG Jameel said. Police and law enforcing agencies were trying to identify the accused, he said. The DIG said that investigators were probing involvement of extremist groups, proscribed organisations and foreign hands in the murder case.
