Robbers escape after taking mobile phones along with Rs81,000 cash from villagers

A robber was killed in a shootout with some villagers near Sargodha Road police station on Wednesday. His accomplices managed to flee. A police spokesperson told The Express Tribune that three men riding motorbikes had visited Muhammad Farooq’s junkyard at around 4pm and held up Farooq and his employees.

“They took Rs81,000 and mobile phones from them and managed to escape,” he said.  He said Farooq sought the help of some shopkeepers and villagers to chase the robbers. He said they chased them to A-Block Negehban Pura, where the robbers shot at them. He said when the villagers shot back, one of them was injured and fell off. He said his accomplices escaped.


Villagers took the injured man to a hospital but he died on the way.
