Hydel generation: 1,000MW to be added, says official

Power projects in K-P would help increase the generation capacity in the country

Adviser to Prime Minister, Engineer Ameer Muqam on Wednesday said that 1,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity would be added to the national grid after completion of ongoing work on hydel power projects in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).        


Talking to media after a briefing at Wapda House, he said that work on power generating projects is in full swing and the country would witness surplus electricity in the year 2017.


He said that power projects in K-P would help increase the generation capacity in the country. Earlier, Muqam attended a high level meeting that saw the participation of Project North, General Manager Aziz Ahmad, Tarbela Dam, General Manager Iqbal Siddiqui and Small and Medium Dams Director Shahid Hamid.


On the occasion, PM Advisor directed officials to start visiting project sites and ensure their completion within the stipulated time by removing hurdles affecting the pace of work.
