A divisional officer of Abbottabad forest department has paid Rs30 million to National Accountability Bureau Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa under the voluntarily return system.
Divisional officer Muhammad Tariq was arrested on charges of possessing property during his employment in the government. The property included a house on University Road worth Rs110 million, a flat in Tehkal, bank accounts in his and his wife’s name.
Prosecutor Muhammad Riaz informed judge Muhammad Ibrahim Khan that the accused had given an application to the NAB chairman agreeing to pay the amount to the authority. The application had been approved. The court was told that after paying the NAB, Tariq is no more required to be a part of the NAB investigation. After hearing arguments, the court accepted the voluntarily return amount’s approval by the NAB chairman and ordered the accused be released in the instant case.
