Justice Manzoor Hussain: PHC judge hangs up his robes

CJ Miankhel heads full court reference to bid farewell to parting judge.

PESHAWAR: A full court reference was held to bid farewell to Peshawar High Court Justice Malik Manzoor Hussain on his last day on Tuesday. Justice Hussain retired after serving at the high court for nearly 25 months.

Headed by Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel, the bench paid homage to the parting judge for the services he rendered during his stay. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Advocate General Abdul Latif Yousafzai, Additional Attorney General Syed Attique Shah, judges of the lower judiciary, members of PHC Bar Association and a large number of legal practitioners were in attendance.

During his address, Yousafzai shared details of Justice Hussain’s judicial career. Born on May 6, 1953 in Abbottabad, Justice Hussain obtained his BSc and LLB from the University of Peshawar. He began practicing law at lower courts in 1978, moved to the high court in 1980 and the Supreme Court in 1999. He also remained a legal adviser to the communication and works, and forest departments and the Galiyat Development Authority.

Justice Hussain also served as the Abbottabad High Court Bar Association president and Supreme Court Bar Association vice president. He attended judicial conferences in Islamabad and the Indian cities of New Delhi and Jaipur.

Hussain was appointed as additional judge of the high court on March 26, 2013 and later was confirmed as permanent judge on March 13, 2014.

“Justice Manzoor Hussain was appreciated at every high court bench he served at. Requests were received for his permanent posting from those benches,” said CJ Miankhel on the occasion.

During his farewell address, Justice Hussain thanked all the attendees for honouring him and hoped the court would continue to work towards maintaining the supremacy of law.
