Firefighters’ day: CDA to exhibit preparedness
Fire fighters, rescue workers and the staff will exhibit their preparedness to respond to emergencies
ISLAMABAD:
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has arranged a special programme to commemorate the International Firefighters’ Day at Jinnah Convention Centre on Monday. CDA Emergency Disaster Management Directorate, firefighters, rescue workers and staff of the Capital Ambulance Rescue and Emergency Services will exhibit their preparedness to respond to emergencies. Firefighting and rescue teams will stage mock fire extinguishing demonstrations and rescue drills while the work of sniper dogs especially trained to search people trapped under the rubble will also be showcased. A contingent of firefighters will also present a guard of honour. Latest rescue equipment including a 68-meter-long modern snorkel, fire tenders and emergency ambulances will march through the designated city routes to create awareness among the public. A five second silence will also be observed to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives while saving people during emergencies.
