The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration collected a fine of Rs323,175 from violators of tobacco control laws during 14 raids in April.


This data was shared in a meeting of all assistant commissioners (ACs) and magistrates, regarding “Tobacco-Smoke Free Islamabad” initiative. The meeting was also told that 37 cases are sub-judice before magistrates of different sub-divisions of the capital.


Chairing the meeting held earlier this week, Additional Deputy Commissioner (East) Nadia Saqib directed all SHOs that the organiser will be responsible to provide a smoke-free environment at any event. During the meeting, the project manager of Capital Administration & Development Division “Tobacco-Smoke Free Islamabad” project presented a report on violations of tobacco control laws in the city to all ACs.
