
More than 50 vehicles of capital police took part in the exercise, which was headed by SP (City) Haroon Joya. The march was held on the special instructions of Inspector General Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Kaleem Imam and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan.
The flag march started from D-Chowk and culminated at Bhara Kahu after passing through Ayub Chowk, Super Market, Jinnah Super, Blue Area, G-6/2 Imambargah, Melody, Aabpara, Dhokri Chowk, G-5, Radio Pakistan Chowk and Bari Imam.
All senior police officials including DSP Secretariat Liaqat Hyat Niazi, DSP City Ahmed Iqbal, SHO Secretariat Police Station Hakim Khan, SHO Aabpara Police Station Khalid Awan, personnel of Islamabad Traffic Police, patrolling officers, Eagle Squad, Falcon, Rescue 15 and lady commandos participated in the procession.
“The purpose of the flag march was to ensure peace in the city and show readiness of Islamabad police to counter any untoward incident specifically during the next ten days,” said an official of the police.
