Sindh minister Javed Nagori escapes assassination attempt in Lyari

KARACHI:
Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) and Sindh Minister for Kutchi Abadis Javed Nagori escaped assassination attempt in Karachi's Lyari neighborhood late on Friday night.

Nagori was travelling through his native Lyari when his convoy came under a grenade and gun attack by unidentified assailants.

Nagori's brother, Akbar Nagori, who had been injured in the attack, succumbed. Two police officers who were assigned to the minister's security detail along with four others were injured in the attack.






The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital for medical treatment.



Police officials said that the minister, who belongs to the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), successfully escaped the attack in which multiple shots had been fired at his car. They added that while initially unhurt, he suffered injuries when his car suffered an accident following the attack.

Officials said they were investigating which group could be behind the attack.

After the attack, heavy contingents of law enforcers reached the spot and cordoned off the area.
