Town administration: DCO wants security beefed up at worship places

Several religious scholars, town administrators and officials from the city police attended the meeting.

The city government would conduct a security audit of mosques, imambarghas, churches, worship places of minorities and educational institutions, District Coordination Officer Capt (retd) Muhammad Usman said on Thursday. He was speaking at a meeting to review security arrangements for worship places in the city. He directed officials concerned to ensure that the exercise was completed within 10 days with help from police. Several religious scholars, town administrators and officials from the city police attended the meeting. DCO Usman asked police to implement, if necessary, a new security plan to protect religious and educational places. He directed officials concerned to provide foolproof protection to religious gatherings. He said security measures should be undertaken for gatherings arranged by all religious sects and communities. He ordered that all encroachments in front of religious places be immediately removed. He directed town administrators to launch a crackdown on fireworks warehouse in the city.
