Tehsil council: Hindu elder elected unopposed in Topi

SWABI: Payaray Laal, a Hindu elder, associated with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has been elected unopposed as a member of the Topi tehsil council. According to officials familiar with the matter, no other non-Muslim candidate had filed nomination papers on the reserved seat against Laal, leaving him the only candidate on a single seat for non-Muslims in Topi tehsil. Meanwhile, PML-N Swabi MPA Haji Muhammad Sheeraz Khan congratulated Laal. The former also greeted Rashid Ahmed who belongs to Swabi and has been elected as a councillor on PML-N ticket from Rawalpindi Cantonment Board.
