Shahid Afridi announces retirement after 2016 World T20

Cricketer says he wants to play the T20 World Cup one last time before retiring

Shahid Afridi announced on Thursday he will retire from cricket after the T20 World Cup to be held in 2016, Express News reported.

“My wish is to play the World Twenty20 in 2016 and get a happy ending,” said Afridi, while speaking to the media regarding his retirement and expressing his will to play in the tournament one last time.

“I never thought I’d be on this level and play cricket for Pakistan team,” he added.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had announced in September 2014 that all-rounder Shahid Afridi was going to lead the national team in the shortest format of the game — Twenty20.

The 35-year-old all-rounder has represented Pakistan in 78 T20s, scoring at an average of 18.91 with a strike rate of 145.15. He has also bagged 81 wickets.

Why is there always an adrenaline rush and a ray of hope in your eyes when he marches on to the crease? Its not him but the hypocrisy in your blood. Cricket is entertainment which we love to watch to good time-pass. If you want to do something that makes you proud, then do scientific contributions that can help the standard and life of people in Pakistan. Get a life pls.

khalid | 9 years ago | Reply What makes him so sure that he will be selected, from his present performance he should not be in the team at all, we are so emotional about our so called heroes, and above all very clever of Afridi to make sure he remains the captain, he is not even 10% of what he used to be.
