GUJRANWALA: Dozens of women staged a protest demonstration on Tuesday against police for not registering a rape case. They pelted police vehicles with eggs. The demonstrators gathered outside the Sabzi Mandi police station and chanted slogans against police. They said that police had not registered the case despite the passage of six months. “Two men, Akmal and Atif raped me six months ago. I filed a complaint with police. However, police are not registering the case,” the complainant said. The protesters staged a sit-in on the road and traffic remained blocked for hours. Sabzi Mandi police said that the woman was raped in Sheikhupura. “She wants to register a case in Gujranwala, which is not possible,” police said.
