NAB’s Executive Board Meeting (EBM) on Tuesday decided no further action would be taken against Makhdoom Amin Fahim in a case regarding accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income due to lack of incriminating evidence, said a communiqué.
The EBM was held under the chairmanship of NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry at the NAB headquarters.
Speaking at occasion, Chaudhry reiterated his determination for eradication of corruption and corrupt practices throughout the country. He emphasised that all NAB officers must put their best efforts in conduct of complaint verifications, inquiries and investigations against corrupts in accordance with law, transparently and on merit.
The EBM also decided to file corruption references against Balochistan’s former minister food Asfand Yar Kakar, former secretary food Ali Bakhsh, district food controller Muhammad Haseen Khan Afridi, and former director food Abdul Wali Kakar.
In this case, the accused allegedly embezzled Rs292.878 million wheat bags from PRCS Chaman and Pishin in District Kila Abdullah, Balochistan.
Second reference was filed against Senate Secretariat’s Additional Secretary Syed Mussarat Abbas, Senate Secretariat Employees Cooperative Housing Society’s (SSECHS) former vice president and others.
In this case, the accused persons allegedly misused authority and indulged in illegal disbursement and misappropriation of the SSECHS funds.
