LAHORE:

An on-duty security guard allegedly committed suicide at the Consulate General of the United States on Tuesday. Police said 32-year-old Amjad Shah, an employee of a private security firm, was on-duty at the consulate when he shot himself. Officials said Shah was taken to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital where he had later succumbed to his injuries.

Police said the relatives of the deceased had told officials that he had been depressed. SHO Rasheed said Shah had been depressed for the past few days. He said the deceased had not come to work on Monday due to depression. SHO Rasheed said no complaint had been filed with regard to Shah’s death. He said the body of the deceased had been handed over to the family of the deceased for burial after being sent to a mortuary for autopsy. SHO Rasheed said the results of a medico-legal report would determine whether it was an act of suicide or murder.
