Labour Day

Letter April 29, 2015
Workers commemorate this day in order to remind the world that they have rights that are often not respected

BULEDA, TURBAT: May 1 is observed as Labour Day all over the world. On this day, most countries close their educational and commercial centres and protest the exploitation of the working class. Workers commemorate this day in order to remind the world that they have rights that are often not respected in today’s globalised world.

In Pakistan also, we will see the closure of all government departments on May 1 in order to show solidarity with the working class. Apart from observing a holiday on this day, government departments, schools and other institutions should arrange programmes which should be aimed towards bringing about awareness regarding the rights of the workers because they are the backbone of economic activity in the country.
