Pakistan’s Shahram Changezi moved into the last-32 after beating Malaysia’s Chooi Yew Wah in straight frames in their 31st ACBS Asian Snooker Championship match played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Monday.
Shahram took his time to settle in the game as he faced a stiff challenge in the first two frames. But once he went 2-0 up, there was no stopping him as he won two more frames to triumph with a scoreline of 65-31, 79-45, 105-09 and 77-05(75).
He joins compatriots Muhammad Asif and Hamza Akbar, who had already qualified for the next stage.
Former IBSF World Champion Asif is pitted against Hamza, which means that one of the Pakistani participants will lose out in the race for Asian championship. Shahram will be playing against India’s Manan Chandra for a place in the last-16.
Before his departure, Asif had said that he is looking to win the Asian Championship to add to his IBSF World Individual and Team Championship titles. The 31-year-old has also bagged the Asian 6-Red title.
