LAHORE: Veteran actor Roohi Bano had to be rushed to the hospital after being attacked by, what she said, was her late son's friend on Monday in the Defence area of Lahore.

Roohi was shifted to Services Hospital for treatment and later discharged after being treated for minor injuries. According to the hospital sources, her condition was stated to be out of danger.

SHO Gulberg, Asim Rafi, while talking to The Express Tribune, quoted the actor as saying, "My son Ali’s friend Israr approached me and asked me to sell my house to him. Upon refusal, he hurled harsh words at me and threatened me of dire consequences. He later got infuriated and attacked me with a sharp edged weapon".

Rescue teams also confirmed that the veteran actor was attacked with a "sharp object" by an assailant who fled the scene.

Police have registered a case under section 506 and 354 of PPC and started conducting raids to arrest the attacker.

Bano witnessed the birth of the television industry in Pakistan, become an integral part of it and has worked with some of the country’s leading actors, including Talat Hussain and Rahat Kazmi. However, unfortunately recently she was living in solitude in her derelict Lahore home. She was possibly senile.
