The provincial government has also formed a three-member committee to resolve the much-hyped controversy surrounding Saeed’s BS degree.
This is in addition to the investigative committee formed by University of Peshawar to probe the issue. The government’s committee will have three officials from the higher education department.
More accusations
A senior official, requesting anonymity, told The Express Tribune the committee formed by the government has pressurised the UoP’s committee members to get Saeed out of the fix. The government committee was formed on Tuesday.
The official said Saeed had initially taken the issue against the UoP to Peshawar High Court but he now plans to withdraw the case and use different tactics to draw a line under the matter.
The official said the government committee has invited the UoP committee and faculty members of the environmental sciences department to a meeting.
A member of the government committee has, however, denied allegations of sweeping the matter under the rug. He said the main purpose of the government’s three-person team is to investigate the matter and conclude it with a final result.
He added the UoP and government committees will meet on Thursday (today) to decide how to proceed.
