The 27-year-old will leave on May 6 to participate in the event carrying a prize purse of $0.9 million, where 97 other golfers would be taking part at the Namseoul Country Club.
“I would be leaving for South Korea on May 6 to play in the Korean Open starting there from May 14,” said Hamza.
Hamza, son of former Pakistan golf ace Taimoor Hassan, finished eighth by scoring four under par-284 at the OneAsia Qualifying School in Kuala Lumpur, held from February 10 to February 13 in Malaysia.
His eighth position enabled him to qualify for golf’s highly prestigious Asia-Oceania Circle and made him eligible to participate in the Australian Open Golf Championship, to be held in November this year.
“A total of 150 golfers participated in the February event and only 10 spots were on offer for the Asia-Oceania Circle,” Australian-born Hamza told The Express Tribune. “I managed to grab the eighth spot and create history for Pakistan as no other golfer from our country has ever achieved this feat.”
Hamza is now eligible to play in 10 major tournaments, including the Australian Open, Korean Open and the Japan Open.
