BJP raises objection over ad featuring Pakistani, Indian soldiers

Calls for creator, writer and director of ad to be tried for treason

NEW DELHI: India’s Bharatiya Janata Party raised an objection in Lok Sabha against a light-hearted advertisement, featuring Indian and Pakistan soldier at the Wagah Border.

In the latest Indian-made ad for Pidilite FeviKwik glue, an Indian soldier glues the sole of a Pakistani soldier’s shoe when it tears during a routine salute.

BJP’s Ujjain MP Chintamani Malviya termed the ad anti-national and an insult to the soldiers of India.

The MP said Pidilite had insulted the sacrifice of hundreds of soldiers who laid down their life in various wars against Pakistan.

"I request the government that the creator, writer and director of this ad be tried for treason," Malviya said.

Notice his leathery facial features which have an uncanny resemblance to the Libyan dictator. @ Too True As for Pakistanis, we are no better - or worse - looking than Indians. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. But looking at the grand parade of Bollywood actors, you might give Indian men and women a plus over Indians who certainly have better and more expressive features and eyes than Pakistanis who look dead serious and stern, conveying an erroneous impression.

jamor | 9 years ago | Reply @Shaikh Mustafa: Most Indians are happy that Pakistan has separated from India,considering the fact that Pakistan is widely acknowledged to be the breeding ground of terrorism.In the recent evacuation from Yemen,India rescued 1476 foreign nationals.Pakistanis could have been among them.Unlike Pakistan,India does not make a big fanfare if they rescue Pakistanis as its a normal humanitarian act.Have we not offered help during natural disasters in Pakistan,and its Pakistan who have refused to accept direct help from India.Instead we have this game where India has to give aid to one organization ,who will then hand it over to Pakistan.Pakistan considers it demeaning to accept direct aid from India.It shows which country has more hate in their hearts.How many Pakistanis have been treated in Indian hospitals.You stop sending non state actors over the border and cease counterfeiting our currency and Indians would be least bothered about Pakistan

Azi | 9 years ago | Reply Indians have a habit of making stupid advertisements. I remember the Malalah dying to a bullet, landing on an Indian mattress and coming back to life to receive an award. Also the over confident "anay do" advertisement series ending up embarrassing themselves. This basically goes to show how much hate they can harbor before it becomes hard for them to contain.

Northern Indians are generally better looking and just as tall as Pakistanis; let's say, they have more balanced, regular features. And, certainly Northern Indian women are on average slimmer, sleeker than their Pakistani counterparts. But if you are simply going to compare someone from Tamil Nadu with a person from, say, Jhelum then that is just comparing oranges with apples, which is an invalid comparison.

Pakistan despite all its wrongs still continues to occupy a major land area on Earth and Alhumdolillah for that. What the Indians can never come to terms with is the reality that Pakistan was actually carved out of them and still continues to exist right next to them by the grace of Allah. India, they just cannot fathom the reality that despite all their military and economic leverage they just have not been able to wipe Pakistan off the planet Earth. Refer my earlier post wherein i compared india to a little child who is incapable of understanding certain realities. Just imagine would an Indian ship ever have rescued Pakistanis from Yemen, never. Pakistan has done it recently and in the past as well. Never will you ever see India go to great lengths to assist Pakistanis ever. This just shows their incapability to accept Pakistan as a sovereign nation existing in their neighbour hood. This shows that only land area doesnt make a nation big, its about being big at heart which counts.

If anything, that video clip makes fun of the macho military arrogance portrayed in a crude manner every evening at the Wagah border. Respected op-ed writers in this very news paper (Kamran Shafi) have asked that daily event be scrapped. The message conveyed by the ad is conciliatory, and subtly suggests that even the participants in that rehearsed show of defiance are doing it only because they are ordered to, not because they harbor enmity against the other group of soldiers. I don't see any disrespect for the armed forces. This BJP move is silly. If one takes away our ability to laugh at ourselves, life is going to be very dull indeed.

Most stupid ad. and the more than BJP, the stores should show their protests by withdrawing the product advertised from their shelves. BJP minister Malvia asking for the writer and director of this ad be tried for treason, is also stupidity.
