Pakistan's fight against terror a 'game changer': President Xi

Chinese president vows stand by Pakistan during meeting with Services Chiefs of Pakistan’s armed forces

ISLAMABAD: Chinese President Xi Jinping has termed Pakistan's offensive against militants in North Waziristan a "game-changer" in bringing peace to the region.

The Chinese president, who arrived in Pakistan earlier today, said Operation Zarb-e-Azb's 'remarkable results' would also, in turn, contribute to Pakistan’s economic development.

President Xi made the comments during his meeting with Services Chiefs of Pakistan’s armed forces Monday evening, according to an Inter-services Public Relations (ISPR)statement.

He also appreciated Pakistan’s strenuous efforts in counter-terrorism to promote peace, stability in the region, and vowed to stand by Pakistan in all its endeavours, and to continue to support it in fight against terrorism, and bringing stability.

President Xi arrived at the Prime Minister House after receiving a rousing welcome at the Islamabad airport earlier in the day.

He is on a two-day state visit to Pakistan to sign a number of important agreements and MoUs worth $46 billion. The two countries are set to cooperate in gas, coal, and solar energy projects to provide 16,400 megawatts of electricity — roughly equivalent to the country’s entire current capacity.

BlackHat | 9 years ago | Reply It is encouraging that at least China, even if none else, thinks that Pakistan's fight against terror is credible. Also, if Pakistan allows other countries to participate in the garage sale, I am sure a little more money will flow into the coffers.

Till date no bigwig Terrorists have been successfully prosecuted - a reason why Military set up its own courts(Democracy and civilian supremacy down the drain). Like a mother who can never face up to the criminality of her son, the Muslim world is unable to recogise the common thread which bounds Muslim societies together who are facing the onslaught of this ideology. Pakistan is also tied down by TNT, the divisive ideology, a precursor to the Islamism of today. Pakistan is fighting symptoms, but the root cause is alive and thriving. Minorities form about 1% of its population now. They will soon disappear and this divisive, hateful ideology will target "lesser" Muslims, since it would have lost the original targets - Hindus and Sikhs. Now, its the turn of Shias and Ahmadis. Next big target will be liberals. All this happening as we speak.

Even 25% of Pakistani population will be productively educated, it will be a very positive outcome.Soon, Mullahs of Pakistan will be seen dancing on chinese tunes at the streets of Pakistan in the similar way they are dancing in China. :) good luck

Dodo | 9 years ago | Reply It is still difficult to believe that Pakistan army is the public face for diplomatic news/updates via ISPR twit. It is as if neither army nor govt wants to keep up the pretence of the real power running the govt. And it seems Pakistani public is perfectly fine with army running its diplomacy.
