PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission has obtained 12-day physical custody of Kohat Chief Municipal Coordinator Noor Daraz Khattak, the father of PTI MPA Gul Sahib Khan, and four others charged with grabbing 150 kanals of land.

Apart from the chief municipal coordinator, tehsildar Mohammad Ghulam, patwari Kamran and girdawar Daud along with Taj Muhammad were also arrested in the case. Handcuffed, the five suspects were produced before the court of Judge Hayat Ali Shah on Saturday.

Additional Deputy Prosecutor General Barrister Qazi Babar Arshad told the court that the suspects allegedly grabbed land in Kohat worth Rs250 million.

The prosecutor told the court that the accused were arrested under the Ehtesab Act 2014 and he asked they be given into the commission’s custody so that the enquiry could be completed.

The court then granted Ehtesab Commission physical custody of the accused for 12 days in order to extract the relevant information.

A press release issued by the commission on Friday stated the land was situated in Moza Jarma, Kohat. It was found that Noor Daraz was actively involved in the scam as principal beneficiary.

The Ehtesab Commission was set up through an act passed by the provincial assembly and is headed by Lieutenant General (Retd) Hamid Khan. He has also served as Peshawar commissioner.
