
According to a statement issued by PTI, the workshop was held at the party’s provincial secretariat in Peshawar and was attended by women who will be contesting the polls in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Rakshanda Parveen, PTI’s official parliamentarians’ trainer, told candidates the workshop was aimed at informing them about the party’s constitution and electoral policies.
She emphasised the role of local bodies and councillors in transferring power to the grassroots and creating good governance. According to the statement, after training female candidates in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore, Parveen came to Peshawar to explain the party’s rules of business for the polls in order to help contestants participate effectively.
The workshop was chaired by the party’s Central Joint Secretary for Women Noreen Ibrahim. During the session, she told participants the workshop sought to provide useful tips to women who were contesting so as to ensure a better political future for the country.
Various women leaders from across K-P, including PTI Women’s Wing Peshawar President Rabia Basri, attended the workshop.
Final nominees
The party’s parliamentary board in Mardan has announced names of its final candidates for LG polls from all 75 union councils of the district.
The names were announced at a meeting of Mardan Parliamentary Board held at the hujra of K-P Minister for Education Muhammad Atif on Friday. Mardan PTI General Secretary Iftikhar Mashwani chaired the meeting.
Insiders familiar with the matter told The Express Tribune board members issued tickets to candidates for tehsil and district councillor seats after thorough scrutiny.
