Intercepted On Motorway: Afghan held with 720kg hashish
Police said the suspect was identified as Ikhtiar Afghani

The Attock police on Friday arrested an alleged Afghan drug smuggler with 720 kilogrammes of hashish near Chach Interchange on the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway. Police said the suspect was identified as Ikhtiar Afghani, an Afghan national residing in Peshawar. Hazro sub-divisional police officer Shaukat Shah told The Express Tribune that the police got a tip-off that a huge consignment of narcotics was being smuggled from K-P into Punjab via the motorway after which police officials at Chach Interchange were alerted. On Friday morning, the police stopped a truck (Lasbelah-531) driven by Ikhtiar Afghani and recovered 720 kg hashish hidden inside the vehicle. The police seized the truck and arrested the driver and would obtain Afghani’s physical remand on Saturday.
