ATTOCK: The Attock police on Friday arrested an alleged Afghan drug smuggler with 720 kilogrammes of hashish near Chach Interchange on the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway. Police said the suspect was identified as Ikhtiar Afghani, an Afghan national residing in Peshawar. Hazro sub-divisional police officer Shaukat Shah told The Express Tribune that the police got a tip-off that a huge consignment of narcotics was being smuggled from K-P into Punjab via the motorway after which police officials at Chach Interchange were alerted. On Friday morning, the police stopped a truck (Lasbelah-531) driven by Ikhtiar Afghani and recovered 720 kg hashish hidden inside the vehicle. The police seized the truck and arrested the driver and would obtain Afghani’s physical remand on Saturday.
