ISLAMABAD:

Residents of Alipur Frash and surrounding localities have demanded re-construction of dilapidated bridge on a nullah on Lehtrar Road in Khana Dak area.

The authorities closed one side of the bridge for traffic in 2013 due to its dilapidated condition. It was constructed in 1960. Residents fear it can collapse any time.

They said PML-N MNA Tariq Fazal Choudhary, during his election campaign, promised the local to rehabilitate the bridge but has not fulfilled his promise yet. Locals said they had elected Choudhary twice but he has ignored their problems.

They urged the government to reconstruct the bridge.

Locals said that traffic has increased on the road and diversion from two-way to one-way just ahead of the bridge has caused a number of accidents in recent months.
