A soldier of security forces was killed and two others were injured in a rocket attack on an under-construction check post of Frontier Corps in the Tasp area of Panjgur district on Thursday.

“Three rockets were fired from an unknown location which landed and exploded near the check post in Tasp,” FC spokesman Khan Wassy told The Express Tribune. “The check post is under construction and security personnel are there to protect the labourers. The rockets were fired when work was in progress,” he said.

The deceased and injured were taken to the Askari Hospital in Panjgur for treatment where the deceased was identified as Sepoy Mohammad Yousuf, Wasay said. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to a statement issued by the FC, the paramilitary force rounded up 14 suspects during search operations in Sibi and Harnai areas of Balochistan on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, FC carried out a search operation on the outskirts of Sibi and arrested 10 suspects and recovered six automatic weapons from their possession.

The detained persons were accused of blowing up railway lines, planting IEDs and attacking security forces and public transport.

During another search operation in Harnai, FC arrested four suspects involved in extortion from coalmine contractors and truck drivers.
