Gulshan-e-Rahman Colony to get a facelift

Govt residential area included in Green and Clean Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The government has included Gulshan-e-Rahman Colony in the Green and Clean Peshawar initiative, stated a handout issued by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information Directorate on Thursday.

Work on this has been expedited and other residential areas have also been included on the directives of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, it read.

Under this plan, Gulshan-e-Rahman Colony, a residential colony for government officials, will get a facelift and access to better facilities.



“A rehabilitation project worth over Rs65 million has been launched,” stated the handout. “This will include Rs7 million for the construction and expansion of roads, Rs9.8 million for a new sewerage line, Rs6 million for the construction of footpaths and green belts, and Rs4.3 million for repair of government residences and quarters.”

According to the handout, Secretary Communication and Works Ahmad Hanif Orakzai visited the colony a few months ago and voiced his concern over the condition of roads and sanitation system. Orakzai directed the relevant authorities, including Provincial Building Maintenance Cell (PBMC), to prepare a strategy to improve the infrastructure in the colony.

The handout added PBMC has awarded the contract for this rehabilitation scheme to a construction firm through e-tendering.

“Roads are being carpeted while work on the construction of footpaths and sewerage line will take place simultaneously. Repair work at individual residences is also being carried out.”
