For over six years, a father’s search for his son has continued in vain. Qadir Khan, whose son, Muhammad Imran, went missing from Rawalpindi in March 2009, has been unable to trace his whereabouts.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Khan, a resident of Adezai, said Muhammad, the second of his three sons, was a taxi driver who had lived with his maternal uncle in Rawalpindi since childhood. “His uncle had two wives and Muhammad had married one of his aunt’s daughters and had a son,” he said.
According to Khan, his son, who was only 22 at the time, had visited his ancestral village of Adezai to attend his cousin’s wedding in 2009. “However, he mysteriously disappeared after he returned to Rawalpindi,” added Khan. “Although the police found the taxi he was driving, there was no sign of Muhammad.”
Khan said he had asked his brother-in-law to lodge a complaint and ensure the police find his son. However, little tangible progress has been made in the investigation.
“In the initial months after Muhammad went missing, I would visit Rawalpindi and go ask the police to find my son,” he said. “However, they couldn’t assist me in this regard. We have no idea how to pursue the matter as we don’t live in Rawalpindi.”
