Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal directed all DCOs to expedite the recruitment of disabled persons, especially visually-impaired people, in government departments. He told the officers to issue them appointment letters as work-charged employees.
He was presiding over the DCOs’ conference at the civil secretariat on Thursday.
Gondal directed the officers to ensure the implementation of the Child Marriage Act and strictly enforce the one-dish law pertaining to food served at weddings. He said no leniency should be shown in this regard. He said enforcement of the Child Marriage Act could have far-reaching impact.
He directed DCOs to facilitate visually-impaired people in getting jobs as work-charged employees.
Gondal said overseas Pakistanis were an asset for the country and that all departments should fully cooperate with the Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission to solve their problems on priority.
He also issued instructions on measures to cope with the threat of flash floods and directed DCOs to inspect embankments in their respective districts and complete preparations well ahead of monsoon season. He said all possible measures would be taken to make the wheat procurement campaign successful.
Gondal said that he would personally review citizen’s feedback on a monthly basis. “Corruption will not be tolerated in the issuance of domiciles,” he warned. He also told officials to evolve an effective system to monitor the prices of food items.
Former MNA Saood Majeed, Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission Commissioner Afzal Bhatti, the home secretary, and local government secretary were also present on the occasion.
