DHAKA: Pakistan's left-arm spinner, Zulfiqar Babar, on Thursday replaced leg-spinner Yasir Shah when he was ruled out of the upcoming one-day series against Bangladesh due to injury, ESPN reported.

Shah is to be replaced by the 36-year old Babar after the 28-year-old needed three stitches on his left thumb after being hit during a practice match on Wednesday, ahead of the first of three one-day internationals in Dhaka on Friday.

Team manager Naved Cheema told AFP that a replacement for Shah will be named shortly, but it was unclear if the leg-spinner will be available for the subsequent Test series.

Shah played just one match in the recent World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, conceding 60 runs without taking a wicket against India before being ignored for the remaining games.

The leg-spinner has taken 27 wickets in five Tests and two wickets in two one-dayers since his debut in 2011.

Two other World Cup squad members, Sohaib Maqsood and Sohail Khan, were earlier ruled out of the tour with injuries.

Pakistan are to play three one-day internationals, a solitary Twenty20 game and two Tests on the month-long tour of Bangladesh.
