Education awareness and enrolment drives were held in Haripur and Mansehra districts on Wednesday. The campaign was put together under the auspices of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government and Alif Ailaan’s joint initiative, Ghar Aya Ustad.
PTI leader and former provincial minister Yousuf Ayub inaugurated the campaign at Government High School for Boys No1 Haripur. An entire day of fun-filled activities was followed by a poetry session in the evening. Poets from Haripur, Abbottabad and other districts, and towns of Punjab participated in the mushaira organised with support from Anjuman-e-Taraqqi Pasand Musanifeen.
Over in Mansehra, AC Ammara Khattak launched the campaign at Girls Higher Secondary School Ghari. Addressing the participants, Khattak stressed on the significance of the campaign’s aim of bringing dropouts back to school and boost overall enrolment rates in the province.
The AC said, “Educating the girl child is a prerequisite of establishing a healthy and progressive society.”
