The Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) issued a white paper on Tuesday on the law and order situation and social problems in Lahore.
The paper, issued by PAT Punjab president Basahrat Jaspal and Lahore president Chaudhry Afzal Gujjar, read that the people of Lahore were devoid of amenities such as transport, protection, justice and potable water despite the fact that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) government had spent Rs700 billion on development projects.
The paper said that instead of spending on people’s welfare, the government had reserved funds for “useless” projects such as “pink and orange” metro services and steel bridges.
The paper said that on average more that 15,000 robberies took place and traders were deprived of more than Rs5 billion in Lahore every year.
It said that contrary to city police chief’s claims, only 10 per cent of the looted money had been recovered. Lahore .
