Award ceremony: Roots celebrate students’ achievements

A number of students have been accepted to Ivy League universities.

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly in collaboration with Roots Millennium Schools (RMS) will set up a youth internship programme for creating parliamentary-based youth education opportunities. This was stated by National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq Khan while addressing the high achievers of the school here on Tuesday. The school has secured eight Ivy League acceptances on full scholarship.

The ceremony to celebrate high achievers of the schools was held at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), said a press release issued on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s message was read on the occasion. “Education was not merely a matter of priority, but, also the future of Pakistan, which lies in the hands of its educated youth”, reads the message.

“It has, in fact, become a national emergency,” he said.

The prime minister said that more than half of the country’s population was below 25 years of age. “With proper education and training, this huge reservoir of human capital can offer us an edge in the race for growth and prosperity in the age of globalization,” the message quoted Sharif.

The prime minister said, “I am happy to learn that 5,500 students of Roots Millennium Schools are learning Chinese language on full-time basis as part of the mandatory school curriculum from grade-1 to grade-7 with the support of Chinese language foreign faculty. It will go a long way in cementing the Sino-Pak friendship.”

The premier congratulated the school, its faculty and management for completing 27 years.  It is combined human capital, consistent passion and persistence that had made the school what it was today, the message read.

Millennial students have managed to secure admissions in top national and international universities on scholarships.

The schools Chief Executive Officer Faisal Mushtaq congratulated the high achievers.

Guests included Senator Dr Raheela Magsi, Dean of Diplomatic Corps Rodolfo Martin, Japanese Ambassador  Hiroshi Inomata, Ambassador of Spain Javier Carbajosa, Ambassador of Romania Emilian Ion, Ambassador of Cuba Jesus Zenen Buergo, Ambassador of Turkmenistan Atadjan Movlamov, Ambassador of the State of Palestine Walid Ahmad Mahmoud Abu Ali, and Ambassador of Tunisia Adel Ebri.

Moiz Rehan, A-Level student of I-9/3, Islamabad campus was announced as Millennial Student of the Year.

The school celebrated achievements of students such as Rooheena Madni who secured full scholarship from Bikent University, Turkey, Muhammad Osama Khan, New York University, Abu Dhabi, Asad Tamil, Hong Kong University and Tehniyat Naveed, Reeds College.
