Defamation: Sarfraz Nawaz sued for Rs100m
He said they were merely an attempt to get cheap publicity
LAHORE:
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Husnain Qadir on Monday issued a notice to former cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz on a Rs100 million defamation suit filed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) against him. Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board’s counsel told the court that the allegations levelled by Nawaz against the cricket board were false. He said they were merely an attempt to get cheap publicity. The PCB counsel asked the court to direct Nawaz to pay Rs100 million as damages. The court issued Nawaz a notice and sought his reply on it by April 15. The Pakistan Cricket Board had moved court after Nawaz appeared in various television interviews and levelled some allegations of misappropriation and embezzlement of funds against the board.
