MULTAN: Police said on Sunday that a woman had cut her husband’s genitals in Bhakkar for failing to provide her a monthly allowance.

Officials said Bisma Bibi* had been arrested from the house of her relatives during a raid. Investigation Officer Chaudhry Muhammad Arshad said she had confessed to assaulting her husband, Hasnain Abbas*. Arshad said Bibi had told police that there was a Rs10,000 maintenance clause in their nikahnama that Abbas had failed to honour.

He said Bibi had told police that their marriage had been on the rocks for some time. Police said Abbas had stated in his complaint that Bibi had assaulted him while he was asleep. Officials said a case had been registered in this regard.

“I am not a prostitute...I have no other source of income. What am I supposed to survive on?” Bibi told The Express Tribune.

Dr Riaz, a urologist at Bhakkar District Headquarters Hospital, said Abbas had been brought to the hospital by Chimini Colony residents.

He said he had been bleeding profusely. Riaz said Abbas was still fighting for his life due to excessive bleeding. He said he had undergone two surgeries.

Riaz said Abbas would be kept under observation for the next 24 hours. 32-year-old Abbas, a bank employee, had secretly married 40-year-old Bibi six months ago.
