ISLAMABAD:
As the deadline of SIM verification is going to expire on April 12 (today), the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has released details of verified Subscriber Identity Modules (SIMs). As per the PTA, the total number of verified SIMs is 77,167,225 against 60,496,307 CNICs. The number of blocked SIMs is 16,690,774. According to a report on the implementation of the National Action Plan issued by Prime Minister office on April 9, the cellular mobile companies, in cooperation with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) have so far verified 42.84 million SIMs including; 18,308,516 of Telenor, 17,658,717 of Mobilink, 10,617,332 of Zong, 8,029,311 of Ufone and 5,553,975 of Warid. PTA would announce a mechanism to get unblock the blocked SIMs during the grace period.
