The board elected Naim Farooqui as chairman

The first meeting of the board of directors of Sindh Microfinance Bank, a subsidiary of Sindh Bank Limited, was held in Karachi. The board elected Naim Farooqui as chairman and appointed Shoaib Arif president and chief executive officer of the bank. The board also approved the business plan for the first three years period, envisaging coverage of most rural and underserved areas of Sindh. While the directors carry rich experience in diversified fields like commercial and investment banking, leasing, development finance, accounting and information technology, the CEO brings with him more than 18 years of experience in running grass root microfinance operations including two years as CEO of a microfinance institution in Kabul, Afghanistan. Commenting on the occasion, Sindh Bank President and CEO Bilal Sheikh expressed hope that the bank will work towards extending its outreach to the economically under-privileged with focus on womenfolk to inculcate the habit of saving and also enable them to earn their livelihood in a sustainable manner.
