KARACHI:

National striker Kaleemullah is planning to reapply for try-outs of Iceland’s Þróttur Reykjavík FC in August as the Chaman-based player missed out on his previous opportunity due to his 2018 FIFA qualifiers commitment last month.

Kaleem was all set to fly to Iceland during his month-long leave from his current club, Kyrgyzstan’s FC Dordoi. However, the change in date and venue for Pakistan’s FIFA World Cup preliminary qualifying round caused a change in his plans.

The 22-year-old said that he has already rejoined FC Dordoi and played a match for the current season in Bishkek. “I had to make a choice,” Kaleem told The Express Tribune. “The Iceland consulate told me that it would take 20-22 days for my visa, but then I would’ve missed the FC Dordoi season. I would’ve suffered a lot if my Iceland visa would’ve been rejected too, so I decided to wait.”
