NEW DELHI:
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday thanked his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif for assisting the return of 11 Indian nationals stranded in Yemen. “I welcome our 11 citizens who’ve returned from Yemen with assistance from Pakistan. Thank you PM Nawaz Sharif for your humanitarian gesture,” Modi wrote on the micro-blogging website Twitter. His statement came hours after Pakistan sent to New Delhi the Indian nationals, who were evacuated from Yemen by a Pakistani Navy Ship Aslat. On the directions of PM Nawaz, a special plane taking Indian passengers arrived at New Delhi from Karachi. High Commissioner of Pakistan Abdul Basit received rescued Indian nationals at New Delhi International Airport and presented flowers and souvenirs.
