Kaneria’s eight troubles ZTBL

Hameed hits 171 but HBL on top in Quaid Trophy.

Yasir Hameed carried his bat for a magnificent 171 but Danish Kaneria upstaged him with superb figures of eight for 99 as HBL were left needing 101 to win against ZTBL. Set 181 to win, HBL reached 80 for one after ZTBL were bowled out for 361 in their second-innings.

Blues rescued

Ramiz Aziz and Murtaza Majeed saved Karachi Blues on the third day against Sialkot as the hosts reached 250 for four after following-on. Blues, who were bowled out for 160 in the first-innings after Sialkot declared at 379 for nine, were indebted to Aziz’s superb century.

Islamabad in trouble

Islamabad were facing defeat against Rawalpindi as they led by just 43 with only one wicket remaining. Sadaf Hussain took four for 56 as the hosts were reduced to 230 for nine after Rawalpindi made 405.

Faisalabad defeat Multan

Multan had only themselves to blame after a miserable batting performance as Faisalabad clinched the five-wicket win. Multan, bundled out for 81 in their first-innings, conceded an 89-run lead and managed only 214 in the second. Faisalabad, set a 126-run target, completed the job with Ijaz Ahmed hitting an unbeaten 56.

NBP head for draw

NBP, resuming on 73 for no loss, reached 110 for four and stretched their second-innings lead to 130.

Wapda chase tough target

PIA set Wapda a stiff target of 326 for the last day after they declared on 312 for eight with Fahad Iqbal hitting 102 not out and Sheharyar Ghani managing 89. Wapda were six for no loss.

Moist pitch causes ruckus

A row erupted in Bahawalpur’s Dring Stadium after Faisalabad players claimed the pitch was tampered with as there was moisture on it despite the presence of overnight covers. The match referee will submit a report to the PCB.
