ISLAMABAD: One of the people mentioned in your report of December 6 “Bahria Town racing: speed thrills but kills five” was a dear friend and colleague of mine. It is extremely shocking to hear about his death along with that of his young son, Asfandyar. It is a tragedy that when spectator events are held in Pakistan, proper arrangements are not made, especially with regard to safety. A major telecom provider had several banners along the course of the race and for the sake of its own reputation, if nothing else, it should press the organisers to give adequate compensation to the families of those who died.
