KARACHI: Five suspected Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants - including its Karachi chief - were killed and two Rangers personnel were injured in a clash between security forces and miscreants in Kemari area, Express News reported on Wednesday.

Rangers raided a house on information of militants planning to target the city's Expo Centre in a bomb attack.

During the search, militants fired at Rangers personnel and hurled hand grenades. The clash left TTP's Karachi commander Ilyas Kashmiri and his four accomplices dead.

A large cache of arms was recovered from the premises, comprising hand grenades, Kalashnikovs, bullets and ammunition.

Security forces have intensified their efforts to rid the city of terrorism under the implementation of the National Action Plan.

John | 9 years ago | Reply @sehr.siddiqui: There is something called arms license which is issued to security guards of different political parties and businessmen but then there is MQM which through magical means,has licenses for even stolen forbidden bore nato weaponry.Also,a beard doesent translates to Taliban,open up your racist mindset towards people with beards.Btw according to official records presented to Supreme Court and endorsed by it too,they only groups collecting bhutta and with active millitant wings are MQM,TTP,ANP,PPP,ASWJ etc , so i would suggest get real maam and stop beating about the bush,everyone is allowed their own opinion but not their own facts.

The local police is also seen alongside as if they are protecting the PTI people and their hardened criminal guards. I am hoping for an action from Rangers to establish their impartiality.

John | 9 years ago | Reply Good work Rangers.Its about time Karachi is cleansed from all kind of terrorits including the clean shaven ones from MQM.A loud message should be sent both to TTP and MQM that they cannot terrorise the citizens of Karachi anymore.Also curtail their source of revenue which is bhutta collection which both these goups including ANP and PPP collect.
